FEATI Railway Society Visited the DOST Metals Industry Research and Development Center



The FEATI Railway Society members recently had a chance to visit the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC). This visit aimed to help them have an in-depth understanding of the Mass Transportation Program of DOST.

In MIRDC, key officials took time to welcome them. The delegation was headed by Engr. Jonathan Q. Puerto, Deputy Executive Director for Technical Services supported by Engr. Joey G. Pangilinan, Supervising Science Research Specialist, Engr. Pablo Acuin, Senior Science Research Specialist and Engr. Rodnel O. Tamayo who is Chief of Prototyping Division. The experts gave insights into some of the ongoing R&D projects that are being conducted at the center.

There were different pioneering projects that showed how much effort DOST has been putting towards improving the country’s transportation infrastructure.

The visit to the DOST MIRDC was a pivotal experience for the students, offering them a rare glimpse into the future of transportation technology. It not only enriched their academic pursuits but also inspired them to contribute to the advancement of the railway industry. Engr. Puerto, Engr. Pangilinan, Engr. Acuin, and Engr. Tamayo’s expertise and hospitality left a lasting impression, motivating the students to strive for excellence in their ongoing and future projects.
