FEATI Prepares Faculty To Use AI In Teaching
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been a hot topic for discussion in various fora including its use for academic purposes by both teachers and students, citing its pros and cons, and the challenges that academics face considering the adeptness of students in the use of technology. However, the FEATI University, looked at the reality of AI from a different light and instead looked at it as a tool to help teachers in their various functions in the academe. Thus, on August 1, 2026, Deputy to the CEO for New Technologies Programs Engr. Sofia C. Rey gave a lecture and workshop on โAI Teacher โs Toolbox 2026.โ
The seminar, held at the Senior High School Robotics Room, was attended by 34 faculty members and administrators. Engr. Rey, an Electronics Engineer has been teaching Robotics and CAD at the FEATI Senior High School and College Department of the University since 2019. The seminar speaker discussed AI for educators, including its basic concepts, ethical and responsible use and the four Ds of AI which are: description, delegation, discernment and diligence.
Various AI and digital tools were also explored as part of the educatorsโ AL Toolbox, including ChatGPT, NotebookLM, Canva AI. Moodle, and other interactive AI tools that can support lesson planning, content creation, assessment and student engagement.
The participants were grouped according to their areas of discipline and were tasked to apply the AI tools they learned by creating lesson plans, rubrics, assessment questions, presentation materials, videos, and other instructional resources.
The seminar, organized by the Professional Schools, was the first in the series of seminars intended for faculty development for Academic Year 2026-2027. Aeronautics Department faculty member Engr. Eros Vincent F. Pablo acted as Master of Ceremonies.
