A Testament of Love and Presence: A Lenten Outreach with Arise4Dignity Movement
Under the warm glow of the Saturday morning sun, the Aeronautical Engineering and Aircraft Maintenance Technology Department faculty and students gathered on April 12, 2025, for a purpose that went beyond technical learning—a mission of love and presence led by the founder of the Arise4Dignity Movement, Bro. Armin Demetillo. Held along the Boardwalk along Macapagal Ave., Pasay City and in front of the Malate Church, the day’s outreach activity became a moving reflection of faith, humanity, and the enduring grace of God.
Bro. Armin opened the orientation with heartfelt words that struck deeply: “No one is forgotten. You are loved.” He reminded the participants that God’s love transcends religion, background, and even our sins. In preparation for Palm Sunday, his message invited everyone to reflect on Jesus’ journey into Jerusalem and how, during Lent, Christ longs to enter our own hearts as well—with forgiveness, mercy, and unconditional love.
The food mission that followed was not just about sharing meals; it was a living testament to the love of God, served warm and sincere. The recipients, many of whom struggle daily with life’s challenges, were met not just with nourishment but with human connection, prayer, and compassion.
Adding to the joy and engagement, the Aviation Students’ Guild brought music to life with a heartfelt song performance that became a communal moment. Everyone sang along, voices rising in unison, bridging differences with harmony. The students also led a simple but joyful game for the children—creating paper planes and sharing laughter, a gesture symbolic of hope and dreams taking flight.
The day’s reflection left many moved. Amidst our sins and shortcomings, God’s love remains constant. Just as Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, He desires to enter our hearts, His Jerusalem. The activity served as a gentle reminder to return to our families, to forgive, and to love in the same way that Christ loves us.
This mission may be the second in a series of five, but each one is a takeoff. It is an opportunity to bring faith and compassion to greater heights. In the end, what began as a mission ended as a movement: one that brought people together, reminded them of their worth, and rekindled the presence of divine love in the most human of ways.
