The JENESYS Program is a 35-billion-yen five-year youth exchange program launched in 2007, inviting about 6,000 young people to Japan mainly from the East Asian member states every year to establish a basis for Asia’s stalwart solidarity through expanding youth exchange activities.

This program is expected to deepen mutual understanding among young people who will assume important roles in the next generation in each East Asian country. JENESYS aims to elicit common perspectives among the youth of the East Asia Region, so that the participants will deepen their understanding of Japan with regards to matters in Politics, Diplomacy, Economics, Society and Culture. There will be field visits to various research institutes, museums and specialized organizations. There will also be opportunities for interaction with Japanese youth in the form of debates, participation in school classes, as well as cultural experiences, home stays, and visits to traditional and historical sites in various cities.
