FEATI Stopped in NSL Quarterfinals, Next Stop CUSA
The FEATI Seahawks bid in the Nike Summer League was stopped cold in its tracks when they lost to defending NSL Champs DLSU Green Archers, 89-67 in an uneven contest on June 5, 2008 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. The Taft–based team used its big men to register a 14-2 run in the third quarter en route to erecting a 22-point lead in the last quarter.
The flight of the unheralded Seahawks to the NSL Quarterfinals surprised the crowd throughout the tournament with their improved playmaking, mental toughness and will to win.
Despite the unhappy ending, FEATI Athletic Director, Coach Louie Gonzalez said: “Making it to the quarterfinals was already a positive result that was not completely expected. Due to the diverse nature of the competition the Nike stint served as very good preparation for the 14TH season of our home league, the Colleges and Universities Sports Association (CUSA) slated this August.”
CUSA member schools include:Trinity University of Asia, Philippine College of Criminology, Manuel L. Quezon University, Metro Manila College, Central Colleges of the Philippines, St. Jude College, Las Piñas College, Western City Colleges, De Ocampo Memorial Colleges, PMI Colleges, and University of the Assumption – Pampanga.
