FEATI University Library Week 2008 has ended not with a shhhh… but with a bang! A resounding success!
For three days, March 6-8, 2008, the Riverview Café @ The Library became the focal point of the celebration as students, faculty and employees dropped by to enjoy coffee, donuts and cookies served by tourism students. Endearingly associated by the students with the hit telenovela “Coffee Prince”, the Riverview Café hosted several other activities as well.

A film festival of sorts featured positive and unconventional portrayals of librarians in “National Treasure” and “The Day After Tomorrow”. To promote reading and the love of books, movies based on best-sellers like the Harry Potter series were also shown.
Acoustic band performances showcasing students’ musical talents were featured to the delight of the library patrons. Poems of the renowned Latin poet, Pablo Neruda were dramatically read and interpreted to the very appreciative crowd. Students’ original poems were also presented.

Yes, for three heady days, the FEATI community converged at the library turning it from a mere repository of knowledge into an impromptu nerve center. New insights on the library and librarianship were gained.
With the Café already dismantled--to the dismay of library patrons--the cozy ambiance, good coffee and warm fellowship will be sorely missed. The Library has since received suggestions to make it a permanent feature. The University management, through the EVP G.P. Intengan has been informed. We await future developments.

We, at the Library, stand by our mission of giving proactive, responsive and user-centered services. We pledge to continue to re-invent the Library and shatter old myths and stereotypes. We will continue in our important role in nurturing a literary community, willingly facing the challenges that modern technology might bring to our profession.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the people who helped us. To the Interior Decorating class of Arch.
